Any of you had Zume pizza?

All I want is a good thin crust delivered on the Upper West Side for even an unreasonable price. Is that so fucking hard?

At $15-19, they haven’t cut the price, from what I can tell. This seems useless to me.

Do not want. Seems so soul-crushingly bland to watch....I might just have to order a local pizza tonight to feel better about this.

I’m going to take that truck and deliver to Totinos pizzas for $4 each

I’m sold of the concept and the whole idea. Price isn’t too bad if the pizza’s good.

Yeah, I’m picturing this as worse than the worst national chain.

The truck is a good idea. The robots are horrible.

That’s actually/probably the debate that’s behind this idea: local pizza with average, regular ingredients or high tech pizza with quality, local ingredients?

It may depend on where you live — if you’re comparing to Domino’s, Little Squeezers, or whatever, this seems okay, if the pizza is decent. But in the Chicago area, this would be DOA except for kids.

But the robots allow them to get the allegedly higher quality ingredients and to treat the employees they do have as actual human beings, and not as urban slaves, like many food outlets do.

In Houston? No. In NYC? Impossible.

They are only based in Mountain View, CA, for now. So more than likely their customers are affluent.
On a more sarcastic note, this photo from their website tells me that these folks are the only ones that can afford to live within 45 minutes from the office.*
But I would be gamed for trying their ZA.
*without traffic; more than likely their commute is probably twice as long at least

I know nothing of Upper West Side pizza but Yelp tells me maybe Freddie & Pepper’s or Francesco’s is decent?

Video shows and tells of a robot in a building placing pizzas on conveyor belts to go into an “800-degree oven” because automation of repetitive tasks is desired ... but later shows and tells of a person placing a pizza into one of many ovens in a truck “4 minutes uhway from yer house” ... so ... the acclaimed robots aren’t placing thousands of pizzas into ovens in a building?

If that actually happens, I’d support it.
I’m cynical enough that I’d expect them to use the same ingredients, still treat employees like garbage, undercut the competition and pocket profits.
I’ve just had one of those days, I’d love to be wrong.

I can get a large 20" pizza at Wegmans, baked in-store in their own pizza parlor using fresh-made dough, sauce and cheese made/acquired from local ingredients/farms for $10.

And thin crust pizzas are rectangular. That is all.

Neither gets the crust right, IMHO. But I am a picky jerk.

Wait. At the beginning, they showed a robotic arm putting pizza in an oven. Then they said it was delivery only. Then they show a guy putting pizzas into an oven in the truck.
What am I missing here?

I believe they’re using those trucks as mobile kitchens, allowing them to deliver in cities in the area, without having to open a pizzeria in those places.

I read this when you first posted it and it has stuck in my craw ever since. That lady in the video is as sanctimonious as they come - “humans are still better than toppings”?
Hell, if they’d gone full-retard and did RoboPizza instead, I’d be tempted to try it.
